Founder - Sabeer Bhatia

Sabeer Bhatia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sabeer Bhatia is a co-founder of Hotmail and an entrepreneur.

Biography -
Sabeer Bhatia was born in Chandigarh, India in 1968. His father, Baldev Bhatia, started as an officer in the Indian Army and later joined the Indian Ministry of Defence, while his mother, Daman Bhatia, was a senior official at the Central Bank of India. Bhatia was schooled at the St. Joseph's Boys' High School in Bangalore. He started his undergraduate education at the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, BITS, Pilani and transferred to Caltech after two years at BITS. After graduating from Caltech, Sabeer went to Stanford to pursue his MS in Electrical Engineering. At Stanford, he worked on Ultra Low Power VLSI Design.

At Stanford, he was inspired by entrepreneurs such as Steve Jobs and Scott McNealy eventually deciding to become one himself. Instead of pursuing a PhD after his Masters, he decided to join Apple.

Founder of Hotmail -

After a brief stint at Apple, Sabeer joined a startup company called Firepower Systems Inc, where he spent two years. At this point, Sabeer started working on new ideas for the Internet and he teamed up with Jack Smith, a colleague from Apple Computer, Inc.

The two came up with the concept of a web-based database entitled Javasoft. While pursuing this idea, they subsequently realised the potential of a web-based e-mail system and thus decided to create one called HoTMaiL (the uppercase letters spelling out HTML - the language used to write the base of a webpage). In order to attract attention, the e-mail service was provided for free and revenue was obtained through the advertising on the website. Draper Fisher Ventures invested $300,000 on the project and the service was launched on July 4, 1996.

In less than six months, the website attracted over 1 million subscribers. As the interest in the web-based email provider increased, Microsoft eventually took notice and on December 30, 1997, Hotmail was sold to Microsoft for a reported sum of $400 million.

Other Ventures -

After selling Hotmail, Bhatia worked at Microsoft for about a year and in April 1999, he left the company to start another website, Arzoo Inc, which was shut down when the dot-com bubble burst. In 2006, he relaunched Arzoo as a travel portal.

He started (alongside co-founders Shiraz Kanga and Viraf Zack) BlogEverywhere, a website attempting to capitalise on the emerging blogosphere.

In November of 2007, he released an online office alternative to Microsoft Office, called Live Documents.[2] This application allows users to use their documents both offline and online, edit, collaborate and share documents in real-time with others, and sync documents between various computers and users. Users can also download their Microsoft Office plug-in, which allows them to get the best of offline and online offices suites, along with full compatibility for all office document formats.

He also pushed for a project enabling access to the internet through cable television in Indian homes. However, due to bureaucratic problems it is very unlikely that this will reach completion. Future plans of his include the development of a new city in India by the name of Nanocity. The aim of Nanocity is to replicate the vibrance and eco-system of innovation found in the Silicon Valley.

Awards -

"Entrepreneur of the Year," Awarded by the venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson (1997) Named to the "Elite 100," Upside magazine's list of top trendsetters in the New EconomyRecipient of the "TR100" award, presented by MIT to 100 young innovators who are expected to have the greatest impact on technology in the next few years Selected by the San Jose Mercury News and POV magazine as one of the ten most successful entrepreneurs of (1998) Named by TIME as one of the "People to Watch" in International Business (2002).

10's of Great Hair Care

- 10 Do’s & Don'ts Of Great Hair Care -

By: Michael Barrows

10 Do's of Great Hair Care -

If the amount of money consumers spend on hair care products annually is any indication, most people are concerned about the appearance of their hair and strive to attain beautiful, healthy and stylish locks. In fact, most will go to any lengths to achieve their desired look. From professional salon treatments to over-the-counter serums, hair care is a big business.

The only problem is that while many people are buying the right hair care products for their hair, they forget to follow basic hair care regimens that will guarantee the health and beauty of their tresses. Additionally, many are also causing needless damage to their hair by participating in unhealthy hair care behavior.

So, what should you do to make sure that your hair stays healthy, shiny and strong? Here are 10 essential "must dos" of great hair care.

Hair care Do's -

  1. Use the right hair care products for your specific hair type. If you're hair is damaged, dry or color treated, use hair care products formulated to repair this damage and add much-needed shine and resiliency. On the other hand, if your hair is oily, use a deep-cleansing shampoo and light conditioner to keep your hair looking its best. The right products should be at the base of your hair care routine.

  2. Get a trim every 6 to 8 weeks as part of your regular hair care routine. Even if you are growing your hair longer, it is still vital to make a routine trim a major part of your hair care routine. Snipping ends before they split will keep your hair looking healthy and save you hair care headaches in the end.

  3. Protect your hair with hair care products that contain sunscreen.

  4. Shampoo your hair only when it is dirty. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to shampoo your hair daily. Doing so can make your hair dry and hard to work with.

  5. Turn to a professional for all of your hair care needs. Yes, kitchen beauticians and friends do not cost as much as putting your hair care needs in the hands of a qualified professional, but they often result in blunders that end up costing you more money than if you went to the salon in the first place.

  6. Use professional conditioning hair coloring systems. There are many hair coloring systems on the market, and the ones you choose can have a great impact on your hair care costs. Simply put: choose a system that causes minimal damage and conditions hair as it colors. This will save you money when it comes to conditioning hair care products.

  7. Stick with one chemical service. In order to keep your hair as healthy as it can be, ask your hair care professional to recommend only one chemical service: color or perm. By only using the service that is perfect for your particular style and needs, you will ensure that your hair stays healthier.

  8. Add Texture. By adding texture to your style, through perm or cut, you can greatly reduce the time it takes to style and perform your daily hair care routine. And you will look sensational.

  9. Choose hair color that compliments your style. With all of the professional coloring techniques available, this part of your hair care regimen has never been easier. From chunky highlights to soft color, you can greatly enhance your style with the right technique.

  10. Comb your hair with a wide-toothed come when it is wet to prevent breakage. The only time you should use a brush during your hair care routine is when your hair is barely damp or dry.

In the end, hair care is a very individualized and personal thing. Feel free to add your own flair and style to your hair care routine, but remember to include hair care principles that will benefit your hair and avoid those that damage it.

- 10 Definite Don’ts Of Great Hair Care -

If the amount of money consumers spend on hair care products annually is any indication, most people are concerned about the appearance of their hair and strive to attain beautiful, healthy and stylish locks. In fact, most will go to any lengths to achieve their desired look. From professional salon treatments to over-the-counter serums, hair care is a big business.

Additionally, many are also causing needless damage to their hair by participating in unhealthy hair care behavior.

So, what should you do to make sure that your hair stays healthy, shiny and strong? To avoid all hair care disasters, follow these 10 absolute don'ts of great hair care.

Hair care Don'ts

  1. Avoid unprofessional and over-the-counter hair care products whenever you can. Many of these only offer false hopes and promises.

  2. Do not cut your own bangs. Leave all of your cutting needs, even bangs, to your hair care professional.

  3. Avoid excessive sun, chlorine and salt water during the summer months. Excessive exposure can cause severe damage that is irreversible even if you use the best hair care products.

  4. Do not use clarifying hair care products on your tresses more than one time per week. They can strip hair of moisture and essential oils.

  5. Do not visit a hair care salon without first getting a referral from someone you can trust. Choosing a salon based on an advertisement or sale alone is very risky.

  6. Do not purchase hair color that comes in a box.

  7. Never stick with an outdated look because you are afraid of looking different. Styles change for a reason. Ask your hair care professional to bring you into this decade with a new style.

  8. Do not straighten your hair with a clothes iron. C'mon, this was so over in the 70s. We have straightening irons that won't damage your hair for this now. Look in the hair care isle.

  9. Don't brush your hair or put too much tension on it while it is still wet. This will cause breakage. Also, do not wear tight styles such as corn rows for extended periods of time unless you have ethnic hair.

  10. Never use sun-lightening products such as lemon juice or over-the-counter hair care products designed to lighten hair with the sun unless you want a very short hair cut in the future.

In the end, hair care is a very individualized and personal thing. Feel free to add your own flair and style to your hair care routine, but remember to include hair care principles that will benefit your hair and avoid those that damage it.

2008 Fiat 500

Fiat introduced the latest interpretation of its iconic 500 minicar (say "Cinquecento") yesterday to customers in Italy, exactly 50 years to the day after the first one was released to the buying public. Sales in the rest of Europe will follow, but for the time being, Italy gets to experience the modernized car that helped put the entire nation on wheels designed specifically for congested Italian cities. While the original 500 featured a diminutive 13 horsepower 479cc two-cylinder motor mounted in the rear, the '08 model features a choice of three four-cylinder engines mounted under the front hood and putting power to the front wheels.

Engine choices include 1.2 and 1.4 liter four-cylinder gas engines rated between 68 and 99 horsepower and a 1.3 liter, 74 horsepower diesel. While these power outputs certainly seem low, the little 500 could fit between the wheels of Ford F-250 SuperDuty SuperCrew. The 500 is more about style than performance and it is being launched with a large line of personalization options never dreamed about in the old car. A wide range of interior colors and wheel options will be available, as well as a Mini Cooper-esque accessory catalog. Comparisons to the Mini are inevitable since the Fiat is, for all practical reasons, the same size.

The 500's wheelbase is 7" shorter and the overall length is about 2" shorter. And the 500 is expected to mimic the Mini by offering a convertible later in its model run. The four-seat 500's accessory catalog will include a wide variety of wheels and tires, as well as some retro touches, like chrome bumper overriders, The 500 does feature a unique Microsoft-developed Bluetooth-based in-car entertainment system. The Blue&Me system, which combines Bluetooth hands-free mobile phone use, voice recognition, a USB port, an MP3 player and an SMS text message interpreter, can be augmented by the Blue&Me Nav system, which also includes navigation system that can be programmed before departure via a USB memory stick.

The 500 is available with a portable navigation device that integrates directly into the car's audio system and can play music from the USB memory stick. U.S. sales are unlikely to be in the picture any time soon, according to Fiat boss Sergio Macchione. The Fiat Group is most focused on strengthening its high-end Maserati sales in order to facilitate easy entry for Alfa Romeo in '09. It doesn't look like the Fiat brand is anywhere in the parent company's U.S. portfolio any time soon. Still, the 500 is expected to eventually go on sale in Mexico later this year. Fiat says that 30,000 orders have already been placed for the 500. Production is scheduled for between 50 and 70,000 cars. Fiat is hoping that the retro nostalgia style of the car will be a hit in Italy - and it seems to be. In Italy, the cars are priced from 10,500 euros. (source:leftlanenewsdotcom)

Nissan Terranaut

Nissan Terranaut reveal vehicle perfect for Picard and his crew

Nissan of Europe has released a bevy of images showing every nook and cranny of its upcoming Geneva-bound concept, the Terranaut. The 4x4, according to the company, was designed for “scientists, geologists, archaeologists or adventurers” whose office is the great outdoors.

It seats three people in an interior quite obviously modeled after a U.S.S. Enterprise shuttlecraft. The “spherical laboratory” is accessed from a seat that swivels 360 degrees to give any intrepid scientist access to all of the vehicle’s workstations. Those workstations leave room for only one passenger-side door, while the driver’s side has two swing-out doors with no b-pillar. What’s the chance of seeing the Terranaut on the street? Pretty good if you own a Holladeck.

A Piece of Imagination (touching)

A Piece of Imagination (a touching love story)

This was the Day. Tony had been waiting for this day for his entire life. He had his share of sorrow all through his life but now the moment waited him which would change his life forever. He was 22 and had seen so much in these years. He never knew what a mother's warmth was. She died giving birth to him. Soon after her death his Dad started seeing other women. Tony hailed from a very rich and prestigious family with generations having served the poor through the medical fraternity. Everyone was a doctor or a PHD but not his dad. His dad didn't take up the medical profession, in fact never tried to earn a penny.

Tony had a lonely childhood until Jane entered his life. He could still remember the day when Jane moved to his borhood. He had found a true fried in her. Jane's company covered all his sorrows, he stated smiling, laughing and more importantly enjoying his life. And now he was going to ask her to marry him. This was his last day of college and he had been preparing for this moment for a while now. He had visualized the scene a hundred times in his dreams." Will you marry me Miss Jane?" He had memorized this simple plain line. As he was waiting for Jane in his garden he heard Uncle Jack calling him. Uncle Jack was the one who looked after him for all these years. Mr. Jack was a Psychologist. He was very dear to Tony. "Can I speak to you for some time, Tony?" "Now? Actually Uncle ..." Before Tony could complete his statement uncle jack said "Tony this is really very important. I always wanted to speak to you about this but was afraid. Now you are older and you will be able to understand.. ." "What is it all about..." Tony asked with a tensed voice. "Not here... Let's go inside the living room and will have a talk there"

Tony followed Uncle Jack into the cottage. Tony was very anxious and nervous. He had never seen his Uncle this way. "Tony before I talk to u about it please promise me you won't panic and whatever happens always remember that I am with you." "God! You are making me too nervous. Tell me uncle jack what is it about". Tony wanted to get through this as early as possible. "Jane must be waiting for me" he thought. "Tony you need to keep your calm. Know it will be very tough for you to understand.. Tony, remember the day when you told me about Jane moving to the cottage next to ours?"

"Is it about Jane...?" he shrieked, his heart was pumping fast... "Listen Tony There is no one living in that cottage for years now..." "whhhat ?? How's that possible I have been there myself so many times.....what are you talking about? I just can't understand" "Please listen Tony. You were alone those days and were very upset with life. You didn't have friends then...You went through lot of things...You wanted to be happy but were unable to you didn't had anyone to talk to" Uncle jack moved closer to Tony and put his hand on Tony's shoulder. "And in such situations your brain plays bad games with you. You started imagining Jane as your friend...There is no Jane; Tony you are just imagining her..." "Just just just imagining her...how can you say that ...I have touched her even kissed her cheeks. It's you who are crazy and not me..."

"Tony I know it's hard to believe this. But it's the truth. I always wanted to tell you this but you were too small to understand.. ." "No that's not possible.... .you are lying ..." "No son it's your own mind lying you...please Tony keep your cool everything will be fine ....just trust me"

Tony rushed away from the living room. He ran to meet Jane in the Garden. But no one was there. He went to Jane's house hoping to find her there...he tried ringing the door bell but it didn't rang and how would it? The place was locked for 17 years now. He entered the Cottage through a broken window..Eveything was deserted. The sofa on which he and Jane sat chatting for hours was covered with layers of dust... He was almost crying now...he moved to the terrace to find the rose plant they planted together. There was nothing only some rusted furniture and dust. He went back Uncle Jack. "Son, I am sorry but you need to get out of this..." Tony couldn't believe what had happened to him. The girl who he loved the most and wanted to marry didn't exist. She was fake, a thought, and a piece of imagination...

It took around a month for him to digest his fate. He was finally recovering. And that day before going to sleep he took those tablets which he took for last 15 years. He always wondered why Uncle Jack kept giving him those tablets. Now he knew the answer. He was sick. Sick mentally. As he was about to sleep he heard a knock on his door. It was Jane. "Jane you cant be here...you don't exist..." "What's that? Is this some kind of Joke, Tony? I came here to say sorry. I had to leave that day without informing you because my mom died in a car accident...I tried to reach you but somehow I was not able to..."

"Noooo! this is not true" said Tony. "There is no one called Jane in my life...I know that now...Just get away from me... " "Whats the matter with you Tony? I am Jane your sweetheart your love...." "No that's not true...." Tony closed his eyes for a moment hoping his dream would end.... Jane held his hand....Tony was shivering he could feel the touch. His brain was playing Bad games with him he knew it. "Come here my baby you are not well...you need some rest" "Go away from me ...just go..." Tony was breathing high now...He tried keeping his cool and took a deep breath. He knew this would be over once he convinced himself that there was no Jane. "Jane you are my imagination. ..I made you..." "Tony you can't hurt me ...you love me so much ...we had such a great time together" "No Jane, I had a great time with myself..." What am I talking! I am going nuts..

He rushed into the kitchen. He came back with water all over his shirt... He could still see Jane standing there...weeping. He was well aware of the bad games of the Brain now. He went closer to her... "Jane i made you ...now i will destroy you..." Zap zap zap... three stabs...Jane was bleeding... Tony could feel the red liquid ....bad brain games he thought... "Uncle Jack. Where are you? I am cured now. There will be no Jane from now on...where are you Uncle Jack?" "There is no Uncle Jack. I wanted to tell you this... All these days..." Jane gasped. Breathing her last breath.
